CHOIR OF THE WORLD: PAVAROTTI TROPHY
Each year some of the inest amateur choirs are selected to compete for the prestigious Choir of the World Pavarotti Trophy and £3000. The winners of competition A1 to A5 will compete against each other on the inal night of competitions, therefore it is important that all choirs stay until Sunday (8 July). In the Final each choir should prepare a contrasting programme of up to 12 minutes of music including at least one unaccompanied work. The competitors are advised to vary their programme from the previous round. There
will also be a conductor’s prize of £200 and an International Medal for the most inspiring conductor of the Choir of the World inalists.
The new Jayne Davies prize will be awarded to the most outstanding conductor chosen from the choirs competing in the Choir of the World inal.
A7. Senior Children’s Choir (Thursday 5 July)
A choir of no more than 80 voices , 12 - 18 years of age inclusive on the day of the competition . Choirs must prepare a contrasting programme of up to 7 minutes of music which must include an original work by a living composer.
A8. Children’s Folk Song Choir (Wednesday 4 July)
A choir of no more than 80 voices, 18 years of age and under on the day of the competition. Two choral arrangements of well-contrasted traditional folk songs of the singers’own country,performed in a classical manner. The total duration of the songs chosen must not exceed 6 minutes.
CHILDREN’S CHOIR OF THE WORLD
As a way of celebrating the fantastic work that is done with children and young people, the Eisteddfod has introduced a special Trophy and an additional £500 for the highest scoring choir from categories A6 to A8 and added to this a conductor’s prize of £250 for the most inspiring conductor. These prizes will be awarded at the end of the day on Thursday 5 July. We will need representation of the Junior Children’s Choir Winners and the Children’s Folk Song Choir Winners to be present.
A9. Adult Folk Song Choir (Friday 6 July)
A choir of up to 50 voices, mixed or equal voice. Two choral arrangements of well-contrasted traditional folk songs of the singers’ own country, performed in a classical manner. The total duration of the songs chosen must not exceed 6 minutes.
A10. International Acapella Group (Thursday 5 July)
This competition is open to groups of up to 12 members. Any music style is acceptable, but repertoire and choreography must be appropriate for a family show. No instruments of any kind are allowed. The total duration of the performance must not exceed 10 minutes . Microphones will be provided . Groups may not bring or provide their own sound, microphones, headsets, processors, or sound technicians.
