A1. Mixed Choirs (Saturday 8 July)
A mixed choir of no fewer than 16 voices, the majority of singers must be aged 18 and over. Each choir should prepare a contrasting programme of up to 12 minutes of music which must include at least one unaccompanied work and original work composed by a composer from the choir’s native country.
Prizes: 1st International Trophy + £750, 2nd £500, 3rd £250
A2. Youth Choirs (Friday 7 July)
This category is open to male, female or mixed youth choirs with a minimum of 16 voices. All singers must be aged 16 to 25 on the day of the competition. Each choir should prepare a contrasting programme of up to 12 minutes of music which must include at least one unaccompanied work and original work composed by a composer from the choir’s native country.
Prizes: 1st International Trophy + £750, 2nd £500, 3rd £250
A3. Female Choirs (Saturday 8 July)
Female voice only choirs of no fewer than 16 voices; the majority of singers must be aged 18 and over. Each choir should prepare a contrasting programme of up to 12 minutes of music which must include at least one unaccompanied work and one original work by a composer from the choir’s native country.

A5. Open Choirs Category (Saturday 8 July)
A choir of no fewer than 16 voices, with no upper or lower age limits in this category. It’s ideal for singing groups which include children and adults and also those choirs that specialise in a particular cultural tradition or style of repertoire (i.e. barbershop, pop, show, glee, jazz, gospel, etc.) Each choir should prepare a contrasting programme within their specific genre of up to 12 minutes of music which must include at least one unaccompanied work.

CHOIR OF THE WORLD: PAVAROTTI TROPHY
Each year some of the finest amateur choirs are selected to compete for the prestigious Choir of the World Pavarotti Trophy and £3000. The winners of competition A1 to A5 will compete against each other on the final night of competitions, therefore it is important that all choirs stay until Sunday (9 July). In the Final each choir should prepare a contrasting programme of up to 12 minutes of music including at least one unaccompanied work. The competitors are advised to vary their programme from the previous round.
A6. Junior Children’s Choir (Wednesday 5 July)
A choir of no more than 80 voices, 12 years of age and under on the day of the competition. Choir must prepare a contrasting programme of up to 7 minutes of music which must include an original work by a living composer.
Prizes: 1st International Trophy + £500, 2nd £300, 3rd £150
A7. Senior Children’s Choir (Thursday 6 July)
A choir of no more than 80 voices, 12 – 18 years of age inclusive on the day of the competition. Choir must prepare a contrasting programme of up to 7 minutes of music which must include an original work by a living composer.
Prizes: 1st International Trophy + £500, 2nd £300, 3rd £150
A8. Children’s Folk Song Choir (Wednesday 5 July)
A choir of no more than 80 voices, 18 years of age and under on the day of the competition.
Two choral arrangements of well-contrasted traditional folk songs of the singers’ own country, performed in a classical manner. The total duration of the songs chosen must not exceed 6 minutes.
Prizes: 1st International Trophy + £500, 2nd £300, 3rd £150
CHILDREN’S CHOIR OF THE WORLD
As a way of celebrating the fantastic work that is done with children and young people, the Eisteddfod has introduced a special Trophy and an additional £500 for the highest scoring choir from categories A6 to A8 and added to this a conductor’s prize of £250 for the most inspiring conductor. These prizes will be awarded at the end of the day on Thursday 6 July. We will need representation of the Junior Children’s Choirs Winners and the Children’s Folk Song Choirs Winners to be present.
A9. Adult Folk Song Choir (Friday 7 July)
A choir of up to 50 voices, mixed or equal voice. Two choral arrangements of well-contrasted traditional folk songs of the singers’ own country, performed in a classical manner. The total duration of the songs chosen must not exceed 6 minutes.
Prizes: 1st International Trophy and £500, 2nd £300, 3rd £150
A10. International Acapella Group (Thursday 6 July)
This competition is open to groups of up to 12 members. Any music style is acceptable, but repertoire and choreography must be appropriate for a family show. No instruments of any kind are allowed. The total duration of the performance must not exceed 10 minutes. Microphones will be provided. Groups may not bring or provide their own sound, microphones, headsets, processors, or sound technicians but a full sound spec will be required in advance.
