E1. INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE (Thursday 4 July)

Prizes: 1st International Trophy and £400, 2nd £200, 3rd £100.

  • Instrumental ensembles of 6 to 30 members of any age.
  • Ensembles are required to present a programme of two contrasting pieces in any style or genre lasting up to 8 minutes.
  • Ensembles can comprise of any combination of instruments and can be orchestral groups, brass bands, folk bands, contemporary music groups, jazz bands, wind bands etc.
  • Ensembles are expected to undertake an additional public performance on either our outside stages on the Eisteddfod field or at other local venues.

 

E2. COMMUNITY BANDS (Saturday 6 July)

Prizes: 1st International Trophy and £400, 2nd £200, 3rd £100.

  • Community bands including Brass, Wind and Concert Bands.
  • There is no upper or lower age limit for this group. Performance no longer than 12 minutes.
  • Programme should include at least two contrasting pieces and at least one piece by a composer from the UK.

H – NON-COMPETITIVE PARTICIPATION

H3 – Ensembles

  • Closing date for all group non-comp applications: Thursday 30 November 2023
  • Successful group applicants will be notified by: Wednesday 13 December 2023
  • First day of the competitions: Wednesday 3 July 2024
  • Late applications will be considered

The Eisteddfod welcomes non-competitive participation and can offer the following range of activities to visiting non-competitive choirs, dance groups, instrumental ensembles and solo performances:

  • Informal public performances on our outside stages and at various locations throughout North East Wales
  • Possibility to participate in choral, dance or instrumental workshops
  • Possibility to perform on the main Pavilion stage
  • Possibility to receive non-competitive assessment by a panel of adjudicators.
